Christian Eriksen has shone for Tottenham Hotspur this season, but Brentford right-back Henrik Dalsgaard knows how good he is for Denmark, too.
Thanks largely to Christian Eriksen, Henrik Dalsgaard has a chance to represent his country in the World Cup this summer.
The Brentford right-back was part of the Denmark squad that qualified for the 2018 World Cup, but it was Tottenham Hotspur’s play-maker that put the seal on their place at the festival of football.
Eriksen scored a stunning hat-trick as the Danes thrashed the Republic of Ireland 5-1 away from home in the qualifier’s second leg. So no wonder Dalsgaard is so pleased to be have the chance to line up alongside the former Ajax star in a few months.
“For the national team, he’s taking charge and scoring goals. For me, it’s an honour to play with a player like him. It’s something you’ll look back on,” Dalsgaard, who moved to Brentford from Zulte Waregam in June, told Get West London.
“Eriksen is very calm in training. He’s just calm on the ball. He’s a good person.”
28-year-old Dalsgaard, who has started 16 Championship games so far for Dean Smith’s side, is in with a real chance of being Denmark’s first-choice right-back at the World Cup, having being named in his country’s 2017 Team of the Year.
But Denmark’s hopes of progressing from a group containing France, Peru and Australia may rest on the shoulders of Eriksen.
Although if he can perform like he did that night in Ireland, or away to Juventus in Tuesday’s Champions League clash, the Danes have every chance.
