Rangers reportedly want to sign centre-back Jack Simpson from Premier League overachievers Bournemouth.

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe has made it clear how highly he rates Jack Simpson. But that does not mean the 21-year-old will be playing regular first-team football at the Vitality Stadium over the next few months.
Simpson made his Premier League bow for the Cherries last season but has featured just once in the competition so far. And he has been left out of the starting XI in each of Bournemouth’s three league fixtures in 2018/19, with Steve Cook and Nathan Ake firmly established as Howe’s first-choice defensive partnership.
So, if Simpson wants to get more minutes under his belt, a loan move to Rangers looks like the right idea.
According to the Daily Record, the Scottish Premiership giants are still hopeful of bringing the Weymouth-born talent to Ibrox before Friday’s transfer deadline.

Howe told the Bournemouth Echo last week that it was ‘unlikely’ that Simpson would be allowed to leave on loan.
But, if the highly-rated coach sees a big future for his fresh-faced centre-back, the Cherries could benefit long-term from Simpson honing his trade north of the border.
Steven Gerrard has shown a trust in youth throughout his brief managerial career and Simpson would be well placed to challenge Connor Goldson and Nikola Katic for a starting place, particularly with Rangers looking to balance domestic and European competitions over the coming months.
