Nottingham Forest reportedly want to sign Premier League goalkeeper Asmir Begovic from Eddie Howe’s Bournemouth.
Asmir Begovic has admitted that he is frustrated with life at Bournemouth and will hold talks about his future in the coming days amid claims that he is a target for Nottingham Forest, while speaking to the Sun.
The experienced Bosnian was one of the Premier League’s most reliable goalkeepers during his time at Stoke City and Chelsea but his reputation has taken a battering after a poor 2018/19 at the Vitality Stadium.
No player in the top flight made more errors which led directly to goals last season with Begovic costing his team on five separate occasions before losing his place to 39-year-old Artur Boruc.
According to SDNA, Nottingham Forest could look to offer the 31-year-old a fresh start this summer. And Martin O’Neill’s side will be encouraged by Begovic’s comments about his future.
“I haven’t played as much as I would like and it’s been frustrating,” the one-time Portsmouth youngster said.
“In terms of my own future, it’s something Bournemouth and I will discuss in the next few days.”
Begovic would not come cheap, however, with the Nottingham Post reporting that he would cost £7 million. Such a fee would make the shot-stopper, who also earns £70,000 a week at Bournemouth, the second most expensive player in Forest’s history behind Portuguese play-maker Joao Carvalho.
