Scottish Premiership title chasers Rangers reportedly want to sign Jermain Defoe from Premier League Bournemouth.

If you believe the reports, Jermain Defoe to Rangers is all-but done.
Out of nowhere, the rumours broke on Thursday claiming that the 36-year-old striker was on his way to Ibrox. The BBC claimed that the Gers are closing in on an 18-month loan deal, with Defoe set to bid farewell to Bournemouth after a frustrating season-and-a-half on the South Coast.
But Cherries boss Eddie Howe is at pains to point out that nothing is signed and sealed just yet.
“I love working with Jermain, I really enjoy the relationship and how professional he has been,” Howe told talkSPORT (4 January, 10:00am).
“No deal has been finalised so we’ll see what happens.”

talkSPORT have claimed, however, that Defoe is due to undergo a medical in Manchester today ahead of what could be one of the most high-profile signings made in Scottish football in recent seasons.
Rangers are currently level with Celtic at the top of the table, having outclassed Brendan Rodgers’ side in the 1-0 win at Ibrox in December, and the seemingly imminent signing of Defoe will give fans genuine hope of a first league title since 2012.
Defoe might have struggled for opportunities at Bournemouth, but he is a natural-born goal-scorer who could make a huge impact on and off the pitch.
