Everton are reportedly interested in Osmanlispor midfielder Badou N’Diaye.
Everton are going places under Ronald Koeman. After a summer of unprecedented spending, their desire to shatter the glass ceiling and force their way into the Champions League is starting to look less like a pipe dream.
The big money signings of Michael Keane, Jordan Pickford and Davy Klaassen highlight Everton’s ambition while the shrewd acquisition of Sandro Ramirez on a bargain fee from Malaga could be the signing of the summer.
And that is without mentioning Wayne Rooney, who has looked sharp in pre-season, scoring twice since his emotional return from Manchester United.
Rooney’s stunning strike against Gor Mahia in pre-season has increased expectations
Although breaking into the top four looks a hugely difficult task with United, Manchester City and Liverpool strengthening while Tottenham Hotspur have kept all their key players bar Kyle Walker, the level of ambition at Goodison Park makes Everton an exciting destination.
Wrong choice?
Therefore, with Turkish publication Fanatik claiming that Osmanlispor midfielder Badou N’Diaye is a target for The Toffees you wonder why he would suddenly decide on a move to Galatasaray.
According to Goal, Gala are close to agreeing a deal for the midfielder, rated at around £10 million after he scored six goals from midfield last season. And, what’s more, N’Diaye is believed to be keen on a move to the Istanbul giants.
Galatasaray may be the most successful club in Turkish history, winning an unrivalled 20 domestic titles, but they have been overtaken by local rivals Besiktas in recent years, the latter winning the league in the last two seasons.
Furthermore, they were on the wrong end of one of the most shocking results in Europa League history last week, losing to Swedish minnows Ostersund in the third qualifying round.
N’Diaye is a man in demand
It is fair to say Galatasaray are not the Champions League regulars they used to be. And, to emphasise the point, they were banned from European competition last season after breaching Financial Fair Play regulations.
From an outside perspective, it makes sense for N’Diaye to wait for better offers.
