Goalkeeper Jak Alnwick made just six Scottish Premiership appearances in almost three years as a Rangers player.

Another Rangers fringe player has bid farewell to Ibrox, at least for the next 12 months, with the seldom-seen goalkeeper joining Jordan Thompson and Ryan Hardie south of the border at Blackpool.
A £250,000 signing from Port Vale in January 2017 (Daily Record), Alnwick is heading to the League One outfit on a season-long loan deal.
And, after spending the vast majority of his time at Rangers on the bench or in the stands, he is understandably thrilled by the prospect of regular first-team football at Bloomfield Road.
“I’m delighted to be here and delighted to be a part of what’s going to be with the club moving forward,” the former Newcastle United youngster told the club’s official website.
“When you come to top clubs, you’re always going to have to compete for your place and that’s what I’m going to do. I’ll give everything I’ve got and hopefully play as many games as I can.”
Playing games is obviously key. In two-and-a-half years at Rangers, Alnwick made just 11 appearances in all competitions, six of those coming in the Scottish Premiership.
And with Allan McGregor, Wes Foderingham and potentially even Andy Firth ahead of him in Steven Gerrard’s pecking order, this was the perfect time to make a move elsewhere, even if he is due to return to Glasgow this time next year when his loan deal ends.
From a Rangers point of view, Alnwick is just the latest benchwarmer to bid farewell this summer. Daniel Candeias, Lee Wallace and Jordan Rossiter have already gone and they deserve credit for streamlining a squad high on numbers but low on quality in reserve.
