Jack Rodwell signed a deal with Championship newcomers Blackburn Rovers in August after League One Sunderland ripped up his contract.

It is no surprise that Jack Rodwell is enjoying life at Blackburn Rovers.

After failing to make a single league appearance for Sunderland last season, and being relentlessly criticised by supporters for picking up a Premier League wage while the club struggled in the Championship, the former Everton prospect is getting his career back on track at Ewood Park.

Rodwell has made two league appearances for Blackburn, whom he joined in August after Sunderland ripped up his contract following their relegation to League One.

And, speaking to Rovers’ official Twitter account, the 27-year-old admits that he is enjoying life in Lancashire after he was finally released from his Wearside purgatory.

“I’ve never really fallen out of love with (football) but the lads have been brilliant, the staff have been great and the fans have been great,” Rodwell said.

“It’s been a nice change. So, yeah, I feel good.”

Sunderland supporters might not be too pleased to see Rodwell enjoying his football again, however, after the one-time Manchester City player tallied just 67 league appearances in four years following his £10 million move to the Stadium of Light.

Rodwell’s time at Sunderland was hampered by injuries and he came to be something of an embodiment of the dreadful recruitment and poor planning that resulted in the Black Cats sinking down to League One.
