Nottingham Forest sold exciting young striker Ben Brereton to Championship rivals Blackburn Rovers for £7million.

Ben Brereton certainly caused a stir when he left Nottingham Forest for Blackburn Rovers this summer.
The Forest academy graduate burst onto the scene at the City Ground in early 2017 after a prolific spell with the club’s reserve team, sparking links with Premier League giants like Tottenham and Liverpool.
But just over a year later, Brereton made a rather sideways step, joining newly promoted Championship outfit Blackburn Rovers on loan in a deal that will become permanent in January for £7 million, as reported by the BBC.
A number of Nottingham Forest fans were disappointed to see such an exciting prospect sold to another second tier outfit. And Brereton has now opened up on why he thinks he’s better off at Ewood Park.
“I felt that I wasn’t going to get an opportunity there,” the 19-year-old, who did not make a single appearance for Forest this season before being sold, told Blackburn’s matchday program on 2nd September.

“It’s a good club and I will always remember it as the place where I learnt my trade, and it will always be a club close to me.
“But I took this opportunity and I think it was the right one to make.”
Brereton is yet to really have an impact at Blackburn, however, playing just 105 minutes of football across four substitute appearances for Tony Mowbray’s side with Bradley Dack and Danny Graham firmly established as Rovers’ forward partnership.
So the longer he spends on the sidelines, the more people will question whether leaving Forest to sit on Blackburn’s bench was the right decision.
