Rovers boss Owen Coyle was under huge pressure going into this weekend’s clash with Rotherham so their 4-2 win could prove to be vital.

Owen Coyle certainly needed that.
Blackburn’s die-hard and increasingly despondent fan base were against his appointment from day one due his links with Lancastrian rivals Bolton and Burnley, and a run of no wins in seven Championship fixtures added yet another combustable substance to an already bubbling atmosphere.
Finally, however, at the eighth time of asking, Rovers won.
It will take more than an edgy 4-2 win against fellow strugglers Roterham United to convince the Ewood Park faithful that Coyle is the right man for a club at its lowest ebb in living memory. But, thanks to goals from Craig Conway, Marvin Emnes, Ben Marshall and Sam Gallagher (below), Rovers fans can at least smile this Saturday. It’s been a while.

For now, Blackburn are off the bottom, ahead of Cardiff on goal difference.
It’s going to be an arduous season, one Coyle may not even see through, but a little bit of optimism can make a huge difference in this most sapping of leagues.
Here is a look at how fans reacted on Twitter…
Then again, a defeat in next weekend’s trip to Derby County would shunt Blackburn and Coyle directly back to square one. For a team defeated by Fulham, Leeds and Cardiff, a team that conceded three to Wigan and four to Norwich, one win is nowhere near enough. The Scotsman still has much to prove if he is to avoid becoming yet another casualty of the scalding Ewood Park hotseat.
