Jack Rodwell left League One Sunderland for Blackburn Rovers in the summer but gave away a penalty against Nottingham Forest.

Penalty or no penalty?
That was the debate raging on social media after Blackburn Rovers’ 2-2 draw at home to Nottingham Forest on Saturday. The Lancashire club were leading against Aitor Karanka’s side with ten minutes to go, only for Joe Lolley to go down in the area under a challenge from Jack Rodwell.
Whether the former England international made contact with Lolley’s leg, however, is only one side of the argument. As a Blackburn fan has pointed out on Twitter, Rodwell certainly gave the referee a decision to make with a rather lazy attempt at a tackle inside his own box.

Sunderland fans are understandably engaging in a little schadenfreude after Rodwell allegedly refused to leave the Stadium of Light in January, staying and hoovering up his wages before being released in the summer, according to the Chronicle.
And it seems that a number of Blackburn fans are already losing faith in the former Everton and Manchester City player.
It is worth remembering, however, that Rodwell has played just 31 minutes of Championship football since arriving at Ewood Park, and perhaps that mistimed attempt at a tackle on Saturday would not have happened if he had a bit more match fitness in his legs.
