Danny Simpson is a free agent after leaving Leicester City but could he replace Aaron Wan-Bissaka at Crystal Palace?

It was June 29 when Crystal Palace sold Aaron Wan-Bissaka to Manchester United. We make that six weeks until the transfer window slammed shut.
So the Eagles only have themselves to blame as they embark on what already looks like a gruelling Premier League campaign with Joel Ward as the only real option available to Roy Hodgson on the right-hand side of his defence.
An academy graduate with over 200 appearances to his name, Ward is rightly revered by Palace fans but to say he’s not exactly in the same class as the £50 million Wan-Bissaka is an understatement, particularly after he looked out of his depth in Sunday’s loss to newly-promoted Sheffield United.
But, after missing out on James Justin, Timothy Castagne, Max Aarons and even Kyle Walker-Peters, there is fresh hope for Crystal Palace supporters. Well, if you are fans of Danny Simpson, that is.

TEAMtalk claims that Palace are battling old rivals Brighton and Hove Albion to sign a 32-year-old full-back who is still without a club despite leaving Leicester City almost two months ago.
Simpson is hardly the sort of signing who will drag Palace up the table but at least he’d provide some depth and experience in a depleted back line. Then again, don’t expect Simpson to replicate the quality of Wan-Bissaka at either end of the pitch.
