Celtic and Rangers are closer than ever with Steven Gerrard and Neil Lennon going head-to-head for the Scottish Premiership title.

Former Rangers striker Kris Boyd believes Celtic could be made to pay for a lack of depth in attack, telling Sky Sports (30 October, 10pm) that the reigning Scottish Premiership champions will be in ‘big bother’ should anything happen to star striker Odsonne Edouard.
The Hoops might have to rely on just one senior centre-forward for the foreseeable future.
Leigh Griffiths hasn’t featured since August and, although he is set to return to training sooner rather than later, it could still be a while before he is match fit following almost three months out through injury.
Vakoun Issouf Bayo, meanwhile, is expected to miss six weeks with manager Neil Lennon admitting that he could require surgery to fix a knee problem (Sky).
That would leave Edouard, for the time being at least, as Celtic’s only fully fit striker and Boyd believes that this could be the league leaders’ Achilles heel.

“It makes it interesting between now and the end of the season. There’s not much between the two teams this season. Celtic maybe have a bit more strength in depth in the midfield areas but for me if Odsonne Edouard is to pick up an injury then Celtic are in big bother,” said the one-time Rangers talisman.
Over at Ibrox, meanwhile, Rangers have two strikers right at the top of their game right now.
Two more from Alfredo Morelos at Ross County means he has 18 from 23 games in all competitions while the evergreen Jermain Defoe has netted 13 times himself – one more than Celtic’s top scorers, Edouard and Ryan Christie, have managed.
