Scottish Premiership giants Rangers are reportedly keen to offer Russell Martin the chance to move to Ibrox after falling out of favour at Norwich City.

One group of fans are thrilled by the prospect of Russell Martin leaving Norwich City for Rangers this month. Tellingly, however, the cheers are emanating from Carrow Road rather than Ibrox.
According to the Daily Record, the long-serving skipper is set to bring an end to his seven-year association with Norwich in January with a loan move to Rangers on the cards.

It is understood that Martin is keen on the idea of kick-starting his career at Ibrox after falling out of favour under Norwich boss Daniel Farke. The Scotland international has not made a single Championship appearance since the 4-0 thrashing at Millwall in August.
And while Martin deserves a great deal of respect for his achievements over almost a decade in yellow and green, including four seasons holding his own in the Premier League, there is an acceptance among the Carrow Road faithful that his time at the club has come to an end.

Farke has placed his trust in Grant Hanley, Christoph Zimmermann and Timm Klose in recent months, with Martin left by the wayside. At 31, his best years are clearly behind him, and a series of poor performances over the last few years mean the Norwich fans seem united in agreeing that the time is right for player and club to go their separate ways.
