Leicester City’s £19m deal for Caglar Soyuncu is starting to look a steal with the defender starring in the Premier League and with Turkey.

Not many centre-backs put their wits against the World Champions and come out on top.
But after a crucial Euro 2020 qualifier between France and Turkey on Monday night, Caglar Soyuncu’s reputation has once again been substantially enhanced.
2019 is shaping up to be a breakthrough year for the Leicester City defender, who has thrived since the departure of £85 million man Harry Maguire to establish himself as one of the Premier League’s most promising young centre-backs.
And Soyuncu, a £19 million signing from Freiburg last summer (Sky), took his fine club form into the international break too as Turkey retained their place at the top of Group H with a hard-fought 1-1 draw at the Stade de France.

Lining up alongside Juventus powerhouse Merih Demiral, Soyuncu made five clearances on the night as he kept Antoine Griezmann and Wissam Ben Yedder off the scoresheet before Olivier Giroud finally wore the visiting defence down with 15 minutes to play.
Completing 86 per cent of his passes too, the influence of Leicester coach Brendan Rodgers was clear to see too in a man who is looking more than more accomplished with every passing game.
