Connor Ronan has not been given a chance in the Premier League with Wolverhampton Wanderers but shone for the Republic of Ireland’s U21s.

If you want entertainment during the international break, watching the Republic of Ireland probably isn’t the best way to get the juices flowing. ROI have scored just one goal in their last five games, and even manager Mick McCarthy admitted he ‘hated every minute’ of their recent 1-0 win against the minnows of Gibraltar (BBC).
But the country’s U21 side are not having the same problems in the final third. Ireland’s youngsters cruised to a 3-0 win against Luxembourg last time out and Wolverhampton Wanderers starlet Connor Ronan stole the show.
The 21-year-old, who is currently on loan in Slovakia with Dunajska Streda, started in central midfield and produced a marvellous Man of the Match performance that suggests he could be the answer to McCarthy’s creative problems.

Ronan set up one of Adam Idah’s two goals with a magical assist while gliding through the game in a manner reminiscent of Wes Hoolahan in his pomp.
On this evidence, Wolves have a real star on their hands. Yet whether Nuno Espirito Santo is willing to give a chance to a player Paul Lambert tipped for stardom at Molineux remains to be seen.
