Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Mousa Dembele is set to leave the Premier League for China but that has not stopped Everton fans dreaming.

There is something to be said about bowing out at the peak of your powers, but the prospect of Mousa Dembele leaving Tottenham for China just smacks of a real waste.

According to the Independent, the Belgian play-maker wants to leave the Premier League this summer after eight years in England. And, despite offers from Serie A, it seems that a money-spinning move to the Far East is the most likely scenario for a player who, at just 30, has plenty of years left at the top level.

Dembele has been outstanding for Spurs this season, particularly in glamour clashes with Juventus, Liverpool and Arsenal, with manager Mauricio Pochettino hailing him as a genius and putting him on a par with his one-time PSG teammate Ronaldinho.

But it is not just Tottenham fans who are disappointed by the news that Dembele could be off to join Oscar, Hulk and co in the Chinese Super League.

Supporters of Premier League rivals Everton are clamouring for the club to put in a cheeky bid for one of the most complete midfielders in European football.

Farhad Moshiri, Everton owner is seen prior to the Premier League match between Everton and Watford at Goodison Park on November 5, 2017 in Liverpool, England.

Blessed with both athleticism and finesse, Dembele would offer energy, dynamism and control to an often chaotic Everton engine room and fans would love to see him controlling the tempo at Goodison Park.

A move looks very unlikely for now but with Marcel Brands, the PSV talent-spotter who worked with Dembele at AZ Alkmaar, linked with a move to Merseyside, supporters can dream.
