Liverpool loaned goalkeeper Loris Karius out to Turkish Super Lig outfit Besiktas after his Premier League struggles.
It is fair to say Jurgen Klopp’s decision to swap Loris Karius for Alisson Becker has been justified already.
Back in January, the Liverpool manager announced that Karius would be his new number one for the foreseeable future. But the German’s position between the sticks lasted just four months with those two massive mistakes in the Champions League final against Real Madrid prompting Klopp to spend £67 million on Roma’s Brazil number one.
Shortly after, Karius was farmed out on loan to Besiktas.
And reports from Fotomac hardly suggest that the former Mainz man is rebuilding his reputation in the Super Lig.
Karius made headlines for all the wrong reasons yet again as Besiktas lost 2-0 away at Malmo in the Europa League recently, misjudging a looping cross that floated over his head and in at the near post.
And Fotomac now reports that Besiktas manager Senol Gunes is set to drop Karius from the starting XI in order to take him out of the firing line. The 35-year-old Tolga Zengin is expected to start the Europa League clash against Genk next Thursday.
So if Karius was hoping to silence those critics, he clearly has a long way to go.
