Charly Musonda has barely played for Scottish Premiership giants Celtic since he joined from Chelsea in January.

Brendan Rodgers had been trying to bring Charly Musonda to Scotland since last summer so, when the Belgian winger finally arrived on loan from Chelsea in January, it was expected that he would quickly become a star in Celtic colours.
That has not quite been the case, however. Rodgers has pleaded patience with Musonda, who is on an 18-month loan and has plenty of time to adapt, but the fact he has started just two league games in four months has not gone down well at Stamford Bridge.

It is understood that the Blues could even consider recalling Musonda at the end of this season if the situation shows no signs of changing. And it seems Rodgers’ omission of this dazzling young talent is not exactly making him a crowd favourite in Belgium either.
“I can imagine the Scottish competition is even more difficult for him because that style of football does not suit him at all,” Wim De Coninck, a former Belgian goalkeeper turned respected pundit, told HLN. “He is just too much of a gallery player.
“It is, of course, his profile. He must above all have individual actions and is not really a passer or a finisher. Still, he has to try to become more of a team player.
“Why not return to Belgium? For example, AA Gent would suit him well. He would fit in well with their system.”

Interestingly, this is not the first time Rodgers has loaned a player from Chelsea and then given him something of a backseat role.
Victor Moses barely started a game for Liverpool in 2013/14 while Josh McEachren’s loan spell under Rodgers at Swansea City did not go to plan either.
