Premier League Liverpool held Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich to a goalless draw at Anfield in the Champions League round of 16 on Thursday.

Bayern Munich admits that he fulfilled a dream playing at Anfield in Tuesday’s goalless Champions League draw against Liverpool, speaking to the club’s official website.
Arguably the most high-profile draw of the Champions League round of 16, the Premier League title chasers hosted the Bundesliga champions on Merseyside in a game that largely underwhelmed this week.
Liverpool missed a host of excellent chances in the first-half, most of them falling to a wayward Sadio Mane, before failing to break through a solid Bayern rearguard in the second 45 with Martinez offering protection in front of the defence.
Speaking after the game, the former Athletic Bilbao enforcer said that he had been waiting to showcase his talents at one of European football’s most famous venues.
“It’s a dream to play at Anfield,” Martinez, who cost Bayern £31.6 million in 2012, said. “I’m satisfied with the team display and with my personal performance, too.

“But we’re talking about 180 minutes, there’s a second match in Munich. We haven’t achieved anything yet. We must give it everything and win in Munich. We kept a clean sheet against strong opponents, we can be satisfied.”
Liverpool should still be confident of progressing to the quarter-finals of the Champions League three weeks from time, as they prepare to travel to the Allianz Arena.
Bayern are susceptible to counter attacks and playing away from home should suit the rapid speed in Liverpool’s attack.
