Premier League outfit Everton will have to pay big if they want to sign Brazilian winger Malcom from La Liga champions Barcelona.
Malcom’s dramatic Champions League goal against Inter Milan in November looks to have been a false dawn rather than the moment that kicked his Barcelona career into life.
The Brazilian winger, a £36 million summer signing in Bordeaux, has played just 93 minutes of football since cutting inside and whipping a shot into the far corner of Samir Handanovic’s net in the San Siro.
And, according to Marca, Malcom’s lack of game-time has caught the eye of Everton – who were one of many clubs interested before he joined Barca.
Everton signed three, yes three players from the Camp Nou in 2018, Lucas Digne, Andre Gomes and Yerry Mina, and are reportedly planning to raid the reigning La Liga champions for another of their fringe players.
But Everton’s majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri would have to dig deep. Because, according to Goal, Chinese Super League side Guangzhou Evergrande have set the ball rolling with a £45 million bid.
It remains to be seen whether Malcom is ready to bring an end to his Barcelona dream in order to play in the Far East, though the presence of fellow Brazilian Paulinho at Guangzhou could prove decisive.
Now, if Everton are serious about bringing Malcom to Goodison Park, they will now have to start the bidding at £45 million.
