Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino turned to Sissoko when the Premier League giants were behind in Wednesday’s Champions League clash with Barcelona

How much more proof does Mauricio Pochettino need to come to the realisation that Moussa Sissoko simply isn’t good enough for a club of Tottenham’s stature and ambition.
You can probably count the number of impressive performances Sissoko has produced in a Spurs shirt on one hand and Newcastle United will still be laughing about the fact they managed to make £30 million from the bambi-legged Frenchman.
Sissoko did show slight signs of improvement in North London last season, more in terms of his movement off the ball rather than his quality in possession.
But it seems even Pochettino has lost a bit of faith since then. Sissoko has played just a few seconds of Premier League football since a dreadful performance on the opening day of the campaign away at former club Newcastle.
So why the former Southampton boss believed Sissoko was the man to turn the game around against Barcelona in midweek is anyone’s guess.

The France international came on with Spurs 3-2 down at Wembley. By the end of the game, however, he had wastefully swiped a volley over the bar from an excellent position and gave the ball away en route to Barcelona’s fourth of the night, brilliantly converted by Lionel Messi.
Rarely has one player looked so out of his depth against elite opposition. It is time Tottenham gave up on their exasperating number 17.
