Serie A giants AC Milan may be forced to sell Gianluigi Donnarumma and Premier League side Liverpool could reportedly take full advantage.

Gianluigi Donnarumma of AC Milan celebrates during the serie A match between AC Milan and UC Sampdoria at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza on February 18, 2018 in Milan, Italy.

It has been a difficult season for Gianluigi Donnarumma, with crucial mistakes against Arsenal in the Europa League and Juventus in the Coppa Italia final likely to live long in the memory.

But it would still take a brave man to claim that the 19-year-old AC Milan goalkeeper is not the best young shot-stopper in world football right now. Donnarumma has been the number one at Milan since he was just 16 and, despite a couple of errors in recent months, half of Europe would be lining up to sign him if he left the San Siro this summer.

And, despite heavy links with PSG and Juventus, Liverpool have emerged surprisingly as the most likely destination for the Italian sensation in recent weeks.

Corriere Dello Sport state that Liverpool are ready to start negotiations after the Champions League final on Saturday. And it is understood that Milan have suddenly slashed their demands from £61 million to £35 million, perhaps a response to the Financial Fair Play sanctions that should come into effect after the Italian giants failed to qualify for the Champions League.

The Sun reports that Milan could even face being thrown out of the Europa League after UEFA found them guilty of breaching FFP.

So could Liverpool take advantage and sign the world’s most promising young goalkeeper for half his market value? If they do, this could be a bargain deal that goes down in legend at Anfield.
