Southampton reportedly tried and failed to bring Che Adams to the Premier League; now he has 19 Championship goals for Birmingham City.

Southampton slipped back into the Premier League’s relegation zone on Saturday, losing 2-1 to Cardiff City at St Mary’s thanks to a last-gasp Kenneth Zohore winner.
To make matters worse for the goal-shy Saints – who missed chance after chance against Neil Warnock’s battling Bluebirds – their one-that-got-away took his tally to 19 league goals for the season on the same afternoon.
It is no secret that Southampton tried and failed to bring Che Adams to the South Coast during the January transfer window. They offered £8 million, according to the Mirror, but failed to meet Birmingham’s £15 million price-tag.
But maybe they should have just stumped up the cash.

Because Adams has now scored eight goals in his last six games, including a clinical hat-trick in Birmingham’s 4-3 win at QPR; a performance which highlighted his ruthless finishing and ability to sniff out chances like a seasoned poacher rather than a recently converted winger.
Now, the Times is already reporting that Adams’s price-tag has risen to £22 million.
And Southampton fans are worrying that this is a mistake that could come back to haunt them.
