‘Back to’? Back to where?

That is what many Aston Villa fans are wondering as John Terry drops what could be considered a cryptic hint about his future on Instagram.

The 37-year-old is still a free agent after his contract at Villa Park came to an end back in July. But, according to The Sun, Steve Bruce is desperately trying to convince the club’s owners to finance a deal to bring Terry back to Aston Villa on a free transfer.

And the former Chelsea and England skipper has certainly caused a stir on social media this morning. On his official Instagram account, Terry wrote after his Wednesday school run; “Back to school and back to… for me.”

While Terry has not mentioned Aston Villa, a number of optimistic supporters are convinced, or at least very hopeful, that the veteran centre-back has indicated that talks are progressing well ahead of a potential resumption of his footballing career. He signed off his message with a red and blue heart emojis after all. Cryptic indeed.

Terry was terrific in claret and blue last season, leading Aston Villa to the play-off final and he would be a huge addition on and off the pitch should he return.
