Premier League outfit West Ham United are reportedly keen to sign Atlanta United’s MLS star Miguel Almiron – and Darren Eales has had his say.
Not for the first time, Miguel Almiron is being liked with a move to England. And new reports from South America suggest that West Ham United could be his destination.
According to TYC Sports, The Hammers could make a move to sign the dazzling Atlanta United playmaker in the January transfer window. And the MLS outfit seem to be preparing for their star man’s departure, identifying River Plate star Gonzalo Martinez as his replacement.
A hard-working and versatile number 10, 24-year-old Almiron has emerged as one of the top talents in North American football under the former Barcelona manager Gerardo Martino. He has scored 12 goals and set up 11 more in 32 games this season.
As a result, Almiron won’t come cheap. Reports from across the Atlantic suggested that that Paraguayan could cost around £11 million – but speaking to Atlanta-based radio station The Game (23 October), president Darren Eales indicated that his club would demand far more.
“It would have to take at least triple that (£11 million fee) for me to even get out of bed and think about any bids for Almiron,” Eales said.
That would see Almiron cost around £33 million – which would make him the second most expensive signing in West Ham’s history after Felipe Anderson.
