Premier League high-flyers Wolverhampton Wanderers reportedly want Chelsea’s Tammy Abraham after he scored 21 Championship goals for Aston Villa.
Aston Villa loanee Tammy Abraham has admitted that he hopes to be leading the line for Chelsea next season, speaking to Sky Sports.
It is well documented that young players have struggled to establish themselves at Stamford Bridge since the turn of the century. But Abraham looks well placed to follow in the footsteps of John Terry, especially given Chelsea’s lack of goal-scorers.
The England international has shone on loan at Aston Villa in the Championship, scoring 21 times for Dean Smith’s side.
The Sun reported a fortnight ago that Villa’s Midland neighbours Wolverhampton Wanderers are keen to sign Abraham for £20 million this summer, having missed out in January. Villa would surely love to keep the poacher in claret and blue, if given the opportunity.
But Abraham has admitted that he sees his immediate future at Stamford Bridge – delivering a blow to both Wolves and Aston Villa.
“That’s the aim going into next season,” Abraham said. “As a young kid, I’ve always believed I will play for Chelsea. I always believe that.
“I think I have the ability to. I just have to, when I get the opportunity, grab it with two hands.”
Gonzalo Higuain has hardly set the world alight since joining Chelsea on loan from AC Milan while Olivier Giroud appears to be frustrated on the bench. So Maurizio Sarri should seriously consider giving Abraham his chance at last.
