Aston Villa have appointed former Brentford boss Dean Smith as the man to take them out of the Championship.

When he joined Steve Bruce’s Aston Villa on loan from Chelsea in August, Tammy Abraham probably did not expect that he would be working under a new manager less than two months later. But that is the reality facing the England international.
Bruce was sacked a fortnight ago after a run of one win in ten games and replaced at Villa Park by the former Brentford boss Dean Smith, a boyhood Villan who has established himself as one of the Football League’s most exciting managers.
Speaking to the Mail, Abraham has admitted that he spoke to his England U21 teammate Ezri Konsa, who moved to Brentford from Charlton in the summer, about what to expect from his new coach.
‘I was speaking to Ezri and he said Dean is a great manager, likes to play football, and that’s exactly what Aston Villa need,’ said the 21-year-old.

Abraham has made a decent start to life at Villa, scoring three times in six Championship games. And the goal-poacher will surely benefit from working under Smith, a manager renowned for getting the best out of the attacking talents at his disposal.
With Yannick Bolasie, Anwar El Ghazi and Jack Grealish set to benefit from Smith’s arrival, do not be against Abraham challenging his tally of 23 from that 2016/17 loan spell at Bristol City.
