Aston Villa are among the Championship sides reportedly hoping to land Sheyi Ojo on loan from Premier League club Liverpool this summer.

Jack Grealish is not the only brilliant homegrown talent tipped to leave cash-strapped Aston Villa this summer.

The Mail reported earlier in June that Southampton want to sign Villa starlet Andre Green and are weighing up a bid of around £4 million to sign him and his Villa Park teammate Keinan Davis.

After Grealish, Green is the most exciting young prospect in Steve Bruce’s squad. The 19-year-old winger looked like establishing himself as a first-team regular last season with a series of fine performances, before an ill-timed injury cut his campaign short in January.

Losing Green would be a massive blow, not just for the present but for the future, too. However, with the club in a dire financial position and under pressure to raise £50 million in player sales, there is a genuine concern that the Solihull-born teenager could be sacrificed.

And reports from Goal claiming that Aston Villa want to sign Sheyi Ojo on loan from Liverpool certainly add weight to the speculation that Green may be on his way. 21-year-old Ojo, like Green, is a left winger by trade and would therefore be an immediate replacement for him in Bruce’s squad.

Signing Ojo, who started 18 Championship games on loan at Fulham last season, and selling Green would make sense from a financial point of view; Villa would be making money on one player and replacing him without spending a penny.

But with supporters obviously keen to keep hold of their best young talent, links with Ojo do not bode well.
