Aston Villa sent full-back Mitchell Clark out on loan to League Two Port Vale this season.

Mitchell Clark obviously felt compelled to speak out about his Aston Villa future on Wednesday morning.

The highly-rated full-back was denied the chance to fight for a place in Villa’s first-team this season when he was loaned out to League Two Port Vale in August.

Speaking to Coventry Live, Clark has admitted he is a little disappointed that he has not been given a platform to perform for the senior side yet.

“It’s very frustrating but that’s just part of football,” the 19-year-old Welshman said. “I was offered a new contract and then just when I thought I was progressing with the first team in the summer I was put back down to the 23s.

“I didn’t have any second thoughts because I just wanted to get out to play football.”

Clark is doing exactly that at Port Vale, however. He has played the full 90 minutes in each of the Valiants’ last five league games and has been lauded by the supporters for his impressive performances in defence.

Now Clark has taken to Twitter to point out that, despite being loaned out, there is no reason to suggest that he has any interest in leaving Villa permanently any time soon.

With Neil Taylor acting as Villa’s only natural left-back, and with Alan Hutton not getting any younger on the opposite flank, it seems only a matter of time before the versatile Clark gets his chance to shine.
