The Tottenham Hotspur player is currently on loan at Aston Villa.
Prior to Aston Villa’s 2-0 defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday, Steve Bruce’s side had been in resurgent form, winning four on the bounce and pushing hard for a play-off place. But their latest setback has prompted discussions over a lack of pace in midfield, with the usual suspect Glenn Whelan coming in for criticism.
With that in mind, there is a case for Villa loanee Josh Onomah to return to the starting line-up for the upcoming game against Fulham.
After all the Tottenham Hotspur youngster has impressive mobility and he can add that extra dimension to Villa’s midfield, which is in contrast to Whelan’s far slower approach.
The Republic of Ireland international may not be everyone’s cup of tea at Villa Park, yet he has still gone about his job quietly and effectively more often than not.
However, if Bruce is looking for a change, with more pace needed against some of the Championship’s more dynamic sides – such as Wolves – Onomah has proved his worth in the past and the Tottenham youngster certainly has the pace to do a job there.
He would offer more attacking threat while also getting around the field quicker than his more experienced teammate.
Next up for Villa is a home match against Fulham and it will be interesting to see who Bruce opts for in that encounter.
