Everton need a new striker in January and have reportedly turned their attention towards Aston Villa star Jonathan Kodjia.

As if there was not enough pressure on Steve Bruce to deliver promotion at Aston Villa this season, speculation is growing that a number of the club’s prized assets are on the radar of Premier League clubs.

Talented teenage attackers Andre Green and Keinan Davis have been scouted by the likes of Manchester United and Arsenal, as reported by The Mirror, while the Birmingham Mail claims that star striker Jonathan Kodjia is also being eyed up for a move to the top flight.

The report claims that Everton sent scouts to watch Villa in action during their 4-0 battering of Burton Albion on Tuesday night and, while 19-year-old powerhouse Davis has been linked, Ivorian goal-machine Kodjia is also on The Toffees’ radar.

Kodjia, who has only recently returned from a broken ankle, did not find the net against Nigel Clough’s Brewers but netted 19 in 36 last season.

Consequently, the cynics that laughed in the face of his Championship record £15 million move from Bristol City last summer, per Sky Sports, were served up a hearty slice of humble pie.

Whether Kodjia could cut it in the Premier League, however, is another matter – particularly for an Everton side looking to fill the rather large void created by Romelu Lukaku’s departure to Manchester United.

Yet, if Kodjia is to try his hand in the top flight, Villa fans will be hoping he is wearing claret and blue.
