Championship duo Aston Villa and Boro have been linked with loan moves for Liverpool’s Ojo – but Steve Bruce’s side are landing Bolasie and El-Ghazi.
The race between Aston Villa and Middlesbrough to sign Yannick Bolasie looks set to end with Steve Bruce spraying the champagne at the finishing line.
According to the Birmingham Mail, Everton’s £28 million winger is set to snub Boro to sign for the Midland giants instead in what could prove to be one of the most impressive transfer coups anywhere in the Championship this season.
But Tony Pulis should not be too frustrated. After all, Villa landing Bolasie could open the door for Middlesbrough to sign another player who has been linked with both clubs in recent weeks.
With just nine days left before the transfer window shuts, Sheyi Ojo is still at Liverpoool and he needs to find a way out of Anfield if he is to play regular first-team football over the next few months.
The Sun (19 August, page 60) reported that Aston Villa and Middlesbrough were both interested in the speedy 21-year-old, who Liverpool value at £15 million. But the former will surely withdraw from the race once Bolasie, and Lille winger Anwar El-Ghazi, seal their moves to Villa Park.
And this leaves Boro free to sign Ojo. The forum Fulham and Wolves loanee might not have the experience or the pedigree that Bolasie can boast but he can provide the speed out wide that has been missing since Adama Traore’s move to Molineux.
