Nikola Vlasic was farmed out by Everton to CSKA Moscow after the midfielder failed to win over head coach Marco Silva.
Almost on a week-by-week basis, Nikola Vlasic continues to remind Everton what they could have had.
Speaking to Novilist back in September, Vlasic admitted that Marco Silva told him that he could not promise him a place in the Toffees’ first-team in the 2018/19 season, resulting in the Croatian midfielder moving out on loan to CKSA Moscow instead.
And, since then, Vlasic has gone from strength to strength. Not only has he shone in the Champions League, scoring a winner against Real Madrid, and forced his way into the Croatian national team, he is also the driving force behind CSKA’s domestic title challenge.
Vlasic scored in the 2-1 win against Enisey at the weekend, taking his tally to seven for the season. Interestingly, that is as many goals as the in-form Richarlison has scored since moving to Goodison Park for a club record £50 million fee from Watford over the summer.
Considering that Vlasic is a central midfielder rather than a winger-turned-striker, his goal tally looks even more impressive.
Whether the 21-year-old – a £10 million signing from Hajduk Split in 2017 (BBC) – has a future at Everton remains to be seen. Vlasic’s agent, Tonci Martic, told Tuttomercatoweb in November that both Inter Milan and Roma are interested on the back of his superb form in Russia.
