Cristian Pavon could reportedly leave Argentine to join Unai Emery’s Arsenal in the Premier League.

Arsenal are monitoring the Argentina international Cristian Pavon as Unai Emery aims to add more width to his squad in the summer, according to Football London.

Despite potentially being forced to work within a restrictive, £40 million transfer budget, the former PSG boss appears keen to add a number of new signings to an Arsenal team who have come on leaps and bounds since he replaced Arsene Wenger last year.

It is believed that Emery has made bringing in a winger a top priority with the likes of Roma forward Cengiz Under and Rennes’ Ismaila Sarr, who impressed in the recent Europa League last 16 clash, under consideration.

And Football London report that Boca Juniors ace Pavon is also on their radar. A 23-year-old who represented Argentina at the World Cup, Pavon produced 19 assists in all competitions for Boca last year while scoring nine goals too.

AS claimed back in July that Pavon was a big part of Emery’s plans, though Arsenal were told that he would cost £43 million thanks to a release clause in his contract.

With money tight at the Emirates, they will have to haggle. But how good is Pavon? Well, he’s certainly been given the Lionel Messi seal of approval.

“I’ve found a new partner in Pavón, he’s a really good player,” Messi said in quotes reported by AS last year when talking about his Albiceleste team-mate.

“He’s not only really quick, but his decision-making is also excellent.”
