Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly still hoping to bring Nadiem Amiri to the Premier League, but there are more midfield talents at Hoffenheim.

Nadiem Amiri to Tottenham Hotspur is a rumour that just won’t die.
Back in May 2016, Bild reported that Spurs had watched the talented young Hoffenheim midfielder in action. And, two-and-a-half years later, the German publication is claiming that Amiri still has plenty of admirers in North London.
It is understood that the 22-year-old midfielder has a £15 million release clause in his contract; one that Tottenham could trigger despite the fact that he has not made an appearance all season due to injury.
From an outside perspective, Tottenham’s interest in Amiri seems a little odd given that there is another Hoffenheim midfielder who could be a far better addition for Mauricio Pochettino.
In truth, Amiri has not really kicked on since bursting into Hoffenheim’s team in 2016 and he started just 19 of 34 Bundesliga games last season. Kerem Demirbay, in contrast, has evolved into one of the most complete midfielders in Germany during that time.

A dynamic and skilful player, the 2017 Confederations Cup winner has been transformed from a number ten into a tenacious and creative deep-lying midfielder.
And, with Tottenham looking for Mousa Dembele’s long-term successor, Demirbay is a man who can fill his boots thanks to a combination of ball-winning skills and an intelligent passing range, not to mention a penchant for long-range strikes.
Tottenham were linked with a 21-year-old Demirbay in 2015 by Sporx. And if there is any Hoffenheim midfielder that Spurs renew their interest in, it should be him.
