Rangers are reportedly renewing their interest in Kilmarnock’s Scottish Premiership winger Jones, with Kent only on loan from Liverpool.

One year after making a £350,000 bid that Kilmarnock manager Steve Clarke describes as ‘nowhere near acceptable’, according to the Daily Record, it seems that Rangers are set to go hell for leather for Jordan Jones again.
The Mirror (9 December, page 52) reports that the Glasgow giants are rivalling Burnley for the signature of the Northern Ireland winger in the January transfer window.
Rangers will have to offer far more than £350,000 this time around, however, with Burnley planning to put £1 million on the table.
And suggestions that the Gers have renewed their interest will obviously raise questions about the future of Ryan Kent.
Like Kent, Jones has made his name with some exciting performances on the left wing, so the former Middlesbrough youngster looks like a ready-made replacement for Steven Gerrard’s summer signing.
Kent is only on loan from Liverpool after all, but whether Rangers will be able to keep him permanently remains to be seen.

As reported by the Daily Record, Kent admitted in October that he would consider staying at Ibrox beyond this season. However his future is out of his hands with Liverpool holding all the cards.
And it is tempting to wonder whether Rangers’ renewed interest in Jones is a suggestion they are preparing for life after Kent.
