Scottish Premiership giants Rangers have made no secret that they want to keep Sean Goss at Ibrox but Queens Park Rangers have other ideas.

Rangers fans will be thrilled by Graeme Murty’s ambition, with the Scottish Premiership giantsdesperate to keep QPR loanee Sean Goss at Ibrox beyond this season.

The former Manchester United youngster only moved to Glasgow in January from the Championship side but has made a very positive impression so far, starting six league games and dazzling with his passing range and intelligence on and off the ball.

You can see why he was once earmarked as Michael Carrick’s long-term successor.

According to Murty, Rangers would jump at the chance to sign Goss permanently if the opportunity arose.

“Sean Goss is one of a number of players we are looking to bring in on a permanent deal,” Murty told the Scottish Sun.

“Goss has made a really good start, and has shown he understands how we want to play and the demands of playing for Rangers at Ibrox.”

Goss made just six appearances for QPR since moving to Loftus Road in January 2017 but, despite his lack of action under Ian Holloway, a deal could be easier said than done.

Murty added, quite ominously, that “QPR have said: ‘You’re not having him, keep your hands off’.”

It was always the worry that, if Goss started to showcase his vast potential at Ibrox, it would become more and more difficult to keep him north of the border. With QPR lacking the funds to bring in new players, they should be ready and willing to give all of their loanees a second chance.

And this means that Rangers will probably be forced to make QPR an offer they cannot refuse to ensure Goss remains at Ibrox for more than just a few months.

As it stands, however, it seems that any negotiations over a permanent deal would be akin to fighting a losing battle.
