Pablo Hernandez has had another fine season at Elland Road and is reportedly set to stay with Championship side Leeds United.

Pablo Hernandez has got to be a shoo-in for the Leeds United Player of the Year award; not that there is a whole lot of competition.

The Spanish play-maker has been a pillar of consistency and class in another tumultuous season at Elland Road. While the likes of Samu Saiz, Gianni Alioski and Kemar Roofe have had their moments they have not shone as brightly, or as frequently, as Hernandez throughout 2017/18.

So Leeds fans will be thrilled to learn that the long-running saga about the former Valencia man’s future looks set to have a happy ending.

Hernandez was due to become a free agent this summer and had been linked with a return to Spain, and even a reunion with former Whites boss Garry Monk at Birmingham City, according to the Birmingham Mail.

But, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post, the 33-year-old is set to bring speculation to an end by committing his future to Leeds with a new two-year contract.

And no matter which players join him at Elland Road this summer, Leeds will struggle to complete a better deal in the next few months.

Hernandez is the man who makes Leeds tick. As it stands, he will top the assists chart for the second season running while scoring a further seven goals himself and – perhaps epitomised by his sublime equaliser in the recent draw with Sunderland – he is the man most capable of turning no points into one or one into three.

In a testing time for Leeds fans, Hernandez has remained a firm favourite. And amid the Myanmar trip, Victor Orta’s dreadful recruitment and Paul Heckingbottom’s struggles, keeping Hernandez might be the coup of the summer.
