Leeds United goalkeeper Peacock-Farrell has been tipped to leave Elland Road and reunite with Chris Wood and Charlie Taylor at Premier League Burnley.

Burnley have told both Joe Hart and Tom Heaton that they are free to leave this summer, according to the Mirror (19 July, page 52). But could that mean they are increasingly confident that a deal can be done to sign Leeds United goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell?

The Clarets have a habit of raiding Elland Road, after all.

Back in July 2017, left-back Charlie Taylor left West Yorkshire for Turf Moor and, one month later, influential striker Chris Wood followed in his footsteps. Two years on, the Mirror reports that Sean Dyche’s side are now returning to their own hunting ground for the Northern Ireland number one Peacock-Farrell.

The Darlington-born 22-year-old might have lost his place at Leeds to former Real Madrid stopper Kiko Casilla in the last six months but there is no doubting his potential.

Yes, Peacock-Farrell is hardly faultless, mistakes against West Brom and Birmingham live long in the memory of Leeds fans, but he deserves huge credit for producing a series of commanding performances for the Championship’s most high-profile club at such a young age.

He was thrown in at the deep end and thrived. That speaks volumes about, not only his quality, but his character too.

Leeds United's Bailey Peacock-Farrell warms up during the Sky Bet Championship match between Leeds United and Millwall at Elland Road on March 30, 2019 in Leeds, England.

The Mirror claim that Burnley have now told Hart he can leave on a free. Long-serving number one Heaton can go too, as long as Aston Villa raise their initial £4 million bid. That would leave Nick Pope as Burnley’s only remaining goalkeeper.

But if Sean Dyche is willing to let both Hart and Heaton go in the same window, this must mean that he thinks he’s got a replacement lined up.
