Championship giants Aston Villa have been linked with former Leicester City defender Robert Huth, but a move to Serie A could be on the cards

Aston Villa received an unwelcome bombshell on Tuesday night when James Chester was subbed off 50 minutes into Wales’ 2-1 defeat to Denmark during the international break.
The Birmingham Mail reports Wales manager Ryan Giggs admitting that Chester has been struggling with a knee injury – meaning one of Aston Villa’s two centre-backs is now a doubt for the Midlands derby against Birmingham City at the weekend.
And Chester’s potential absence once again highlights the lack of defensive options available to Villa manager Dean Smith.
So surely the Championship giants should consider Robert Huth for one last time – before it’s too late. The Mirror reported in September that Aston Villa were considering a move for the 34-year-old German, who is a free-agent after leaving Leicester City in the summer.
The trail has grown cold in recent weeks, however, and if Huth is still an option then Villa must move quick. Because, according to Mediaset, the veteran defender has emerged as a shock option for an AC Milan side who are suffering something of a defensive injury crisis right now.

Milan, Mediaset says, want to bring in a defender as soon as possible, and are scouring the free-agent market. So Huth could be back in the game very soon.
Aston Villa, then, have a decision to make before Huth is gone for good – and Chester’s injury surely increases the need for defensive additions.
