Nottingham Forest loaned Vellios out to Waasland Beveren last summer and he has struggled for the Jupiler League outfit.

Apostalos Vellios was told he could leave Nottingham Forest by manager Mark Warburton heading into the January 2018 transfer window, as reported by The Post.
But when Warburton was replaced in the dugout by Aitor Karanka, the Greek targetman must have been hoping that he would be offered a fresh start. A clean slate, however, was not forthcoming with the former Middlesbrough manager seemingly sharing his predecessor’s assessment that Vellios was simply not good enough.
On the final day of August, the 27-year-old left the East Midlands for Belgium, joining Waasland Beveren on loan until the end of the season.
Vellios will have known that he would have to score goals at a prolific rate in the Jupiler League in order to prove to his parent club that he is worthy of yet another chance. But has he done enough to catch the eye?

Probably not. In total, Vellios has scored just four goals in 17 games for Beveren and has not featured in any of their last three league games. He has failed to hit the net in two months.
Karanka is gone these days, with Martin O’Neill appointed as Forest’s new boss in January. Fortunately for Vellios, the 66-year-old likes an old-school target man.
