Keith Asare was reportedly wanted by Bundesliga giants Dortmund and Ligue 1 champions Monaco but will stay at Nottingham Forest in the Championship.
Nottingham Forest have one of the most prosperous academies in English football. The problem is however, that many of their best young players have not stuck around at the City Ground for very long.
In the last few years, Oliver Burke, Patrick Bamford, Karl Darlow and Jamaal Lascelles have all departed before coming anywhere near realising their potential.
So far, Forest have managed to hang onto Joe Worrall, Ben Brereton and Ben Osborn (below) but the highly-rated trio have not been short of Premier League interest and Aitor Karanka should expect more speculation about their future in the summer.
Though at least Forest fans can breathe easy knowing that Keith Asare is not likely to be going anywhere soon.
As reported by the Nottingham Post, the 17-year-old midfielder has put pen to paper on his first professional contract, keeping him at the Championship giants until 2020. Asare, who joined from Southend United three years ago, has shone for the Under 18s and Under 23s of late and is perhaps the next young star to break into the first-team squad.
And it is something of a coup for Forest to tie him down.
According to The Sun in January, Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund were keen to take Asare to the Signal Iduna Park. As were reigning Ligue 1 champions Monaco who, like their German counterparts, have a reputation for turning young potential into world-class talent.
You could see why a move to Dortmund or Monaco might appeal, so Forest deserve some credit for convincing Asare that he is better off at the City Ground.
