Loris Karius is on loan at Super Lig giants Besiktas from Jurgen Klopp’s Premier League leaders Liverpool and is starting to impress in Turkey.

It has been a year to forget for Loris Karius. The German goalkeeper started 2018 as Liverpool’s first choice stopper, given the nod by Jurgen Klopp to succeed Simon Mignolet between the sticks.
Just a few months later, however, and Karius was on his way to Besiktas, joining the Turkish giants on loan after that horror show in the Champions League final defeat to Real Madrid.
And the former Mainz shot-stopper endured a difficult start to life in Istanbul, conceding a late equaliser at his near post in a debut draw with Bursaspor. But the international break appears to have done Karius a world of good.

He went some way to answering his critics with arguably his finest display of 2018 this weekend. Karius was the star as Besiktas narrowly beat Yeni Malatyaspor 2-1 on Saturday, making four impressive saves and providing a timely reminder of his quality.
And it seems that he is starting to make a name for himself among his new fans.
Karius is due to spend the next two years in Turkey, but it remains to be seen whether he has any future at Liverpool.
Barring that needless mistake against Leicester City, Alisson Becker has enjoyed a solid start at Anfield and looks set to be Klopp’s number one for the foreseeable future.
