Joe Williams has started five Championship games since moving to Bolton Wanderers on loan from Premier League outfit Everton.
Joe Williams has made a fine impact since he arrived at Bolton Wanderers this summer.
The 21-year-old midfielder is on loan at the Macron Stadium from Everton and has started five Championship games so far. Bolton boss Phil Parkinson described Williams as ‘immense’ and a ‘great all-round midfield player’ after his debut against Preston at the start of September and his impressive form has remained intact.
Bolton won for the first time in five games on Saturday, beating Derby County 1-0, and Williams was hugely influential.
The former Barnsley loanee was arguably the best player on the pitch against the side that stunned Manchester United at Old Trafford just a few days earlier, making a hugely impressive seven tackles and four interceptions to disrupt The Rams’ rhythm.
And after lauding another passionate display from the Bolton fans, the supporters returned the favour.
It remains to be seen whether the Liverpool-born talent has a future in Everton’s first team. But The Toffees’ director of football Marcel Brands has a history of helping provide a platform for young players so Williams should be on the Merseyside giants’ radar, especially with the likes of Tom Davies and Jonjoe Kenny emerging as exciting options for Marco Silva at Goodison Park.
If Williams can prove he’s good enough, there’s no reason why he can’t play regularly in the Premier League.
