Jack Harrison is reportedly set to join Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United from Pep Guardiola’s Premier League champions Manchester City.
Reports from the Yorkshire Evening Post stating that Leeds United are set to secure the shock signing of Jack Harrison on loan from Manchester City appear to have divided the fans into two schools of thought.
The more cynical elements of the Elland Road fan base are understandably concerned that Harrison struggled during a spell at Middlesbrough last season, failing to start a single Championship match between January and May.
And others wanted Phil Foden or Brahim Diaz, two of the most exiting young talents in English football, rather than Harrison.
On the other hand, however, the Leeds fans who kept up to date with ‘soccer’ across the pond are made up about the prospect of Harrison continuing his development in West Yorkshire.
The 21-year-old shone alongside the likes of Frank Lampard and David Villa for New York City FC, scoring 14 goals and setting up nine in 54 appearances in MLS.
Harrison, a left-footed right winger capable of cutting inside to great effect, will add speed and creativity to Leeds’ attack. And, on paper, he should be an upgrade on the erratic Ezgjan Alioski, who started on the right more often than not last season.
The YEP reports that Pep Guardiola has high hopes for Harrison and this is surely a good indication of his talent.
