Goteborg midfielder Alhassan Yusuf has admitted to Aftonbladet that he is flattered to be attracting interest from Premier League outfit Wolverhampton Wanderers and would be ready to pack his bags in January should the opportunity arise.
Scouts from the Black County were present at the Gamla Ullevi stadium on Saturday as Goteborg beat Sirius 2-1 to move up to fifth in the Allsvenskan with reports claiming that 19-year-old Yusuf was the reason for a weekend trip to Scandinavia.
The Nigerian youngster played the full 90 minutes and picked up a yellow card – which is hardly a rarity for a player who loves to put his foot in when required.
And while Aftonbladet has pointed out that sealing a potential move to Molineux could be easier said than done given the Premier League’s complex work permit rules, Yusuf has made it clear that he’d welcome a chance to fulfil his potential under Nuno Espirito Santo.
“It is huge for me,” the teenager said when asked about Wolves’ interest.

“I feel ready any moment now (to make the next step) if something concrete turns up. If I get that chance, yes (I will move in January). It would be a good opportunity.”
Wolves have made a habit of signing little-known youngsters from around the continent with Meritan Shabani, Daniel Wang, Bruno Jordao and Pedro Neto all arriving at Molineux in the last nine months.
And Yusuf is another ‘one for the future’ who looks ready made for a club whose recent success who been built upon a group of hungry, young footballers with the potential to go to the very top.
