Newcastle United and Southampton are both reportedly interested in signing former Leeds United loanee Alfonso Pedraza in January.

Alfonso Pedraza’s debut season at La Liga outfit Alaves has been a busy one so far. The winger moved to last season’s Copa Del Ray finalists on a season-long loan deal from Villarreal but, while his performances have been hugely impressive, you can’t say the same about most of his team-mates.
As it stands, Alaves are bottom of the table with just six points to their name so far and have lost 11 out of a possible 13 league fixtures in 2017/18. And 61-year-old Italian Gianni Di Biasi has now been sacked just two months after he replaced Luis Zubeldia at the helm.
So Alaves, and Pedraza, are now set for their third manager of the season – and we are not even halfway through the campaign. The lung-busting Spaniard did not even suffer this kind of instability on loan at a Leeds United side ran by the infamous ‘manager eater’ that is Massimo Cellino.

In contrast, Pedraza’s spell at Leeds was rather quiet. He moved to Elland Road from Villarreal in January with the understanding that he would sign permanently for £8 million if Leeds earned promotion to the Premier League, per the Yorkshire Evening Post.
A disappointing second half of the season, however, meant Leeds missed out on the play-offs – and Pedraza returned to Spain.

But the International Business times claimed in October that Pedraza was being eyed up for another chance in England with Newcastle United or Southampton.
And the Spanish youth star, who has been converted into a flying left-back at Alaves this season, could perhaps be even more likely to see his loan spell cut short with Alaves in genuine danger of being cut adrift at the bottom of the table.
