Premier League trio Everton, Burnley and Newcastle United all want to sign Alassane Plea from Ligue 1 outfit Nice this summer.

Nice's French forward Alassane Plea celebrates after scoring a goal during the French L1 football match between Troyes and Nice on April 1, 2018 at the Aube Stadium in Troyes.

Ever since Farhad Moshiri arrived at Everton in the summer of 2016 and armed The Toffees with the biggest transfer budget in their history, the team from the blue side of Merseyside appear to have forgotten the value of money.

Everton were once the masters of bargain signings, bringing in the likes of Tim Cahill, Mikel Arteta, Phil Jagielka and Leighton Baines on a shoestring budget. But the last two summers have seen an array of overpriced and possibly overrated players arrive at Goodison Park and make a mockery of their inflated price-tags.

So reports in the Shields Gazette that Alassane Plea would cost just £15 million to sign from French side Nice puts a possibly inspired signing within Everton’s grasp.

Calciomercato claims that Plea has plenty of admirers in the Premier League, including Everton, Newcastle United and Burnley.

The former Lyon striker, a pacey and direct frontman, has 13 goals in Ligue 1 for Nice this season and is in the form of his life right now, netting seven times in the last four games.

And, in today’s market, £15 million would be a snip considering that Plea, at the age of 25, has plenty of room for development and appears to be improving all the time.

After being the victims of some rather blatant daylight robbering in the signings of Michael Keane, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Davy Klaassen, Plea is the sort of affordable, astute addition that Everton need to make this summer.
