Alassane Plea’s super form in Ligue 1 for Nice has Premier League duo Newcastle United and West Ham interested.

Newcastle United and West Ham are both interested in signing Alasanne Plea this summer after a fine season with Nice, according to Calciomercato and The Sun respectively.

And the Premier League duo could be in luck, because Plea, who is understood to be valued at around £15 million, appears to think that his time in the Riviera is over.

“There have been talks and I don’t think that next year I’ll be here any longer,” the 25-year-old said in quotes reported by Made in Foot after assisting a goal in Nice’s 4-1 weekend win against Caen which keeps their European hopes alive heading into the final round of Ligue 1 fixtures.

Plea, a former Lyon youngster, has been excellent in the last two seasons for Nice. He hit 11 goals in 22 starts in 2016/17 to fire Lucian Favre’s side into the Champions League qualifiers and has done even better this time around, netting 14 times to encourage potential bids from the Premier League.

Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez told The Independent last week that he is keen for the club to finally break their 13-year-old transfer record to sign a new striker this summer.

The Magpies finished their first season back in the Premier League in tenth place but their top scorer, Ayoze Perez, scored just eight goals.

West Ham, meanwhile, could also do with a new centre-forward. Javier Hernandez, Andy Carroll and the forgotten Jordan Hugill have all struggled to impress under David Moyes with Marko Arnautovic, a converted winger, leading the line instead.
