The experienced midfielder will be free to leave Brentford at the end of the season.
Brentford midfielder Alan McCormack has remained non-committal on his future at Griffin Park, Get West London reports, despite the fact he is out of contract at the end of the season.
The combative midfielder only recently returned from a lengthy spell on the sidelines to feature in the Bees’ two most recently league fixtures against Aston Villa and Brighton, his first appearances since October.
However, as of yet, there has been no official word on McCormack’s long-term plans. Unless he is offered a new deal, he will become a free agent in the summer.

Although the 33-year-old has refused to give anything away, he confirms that he plans to play a major role in the final three months of the season under Dean Smith.

“I’m in a great place,” McCormack told Get West London. “I’m feeling strong and fit again and I want to play as much as I can to prove to the manager I’m good enough to play in this team.”
“There have been no talks [about my future]. I go in and train. When the time comes at the end of the season and see what happens. I want to help the team now and get us up the league.”

The play-offs appear to be beyond 13th-placed Brentford this season, however, meaning McCormack would have to stick around to achieve his ambition of finally becoming a Premier League player for the first time.

And McCormack’s versatility and experience could prove crucial to Smith if he is to step up the Bees’ promotion push in 2018. Therefore, perhaps a short-term deal could prove beneficial in the long-term.
